STARTUP OFFER FAQs

WHAT DOES A LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP PROVIDE?

The lifetime membership will provide the same benefits as a monthly membership. A monthly membership provides two (2) service calls per year to any location within the serviceable area. Use the Coverage Map to see serviceable areas. Your life-time membership involves no additional charges beyond your contribution of at least $500. The membership will remain active for as long as Skyline Pet Recovery remains active in the serviceable area.

WHEN WILL I BE ABLE TO USE THE SERVICE?

Services will begin once we have acquired a suitable thermal imaging drone. We are setting an expiration to this fundraising effort at 180 days (October 2, 2025), though we hope to begin much sooner. Once equipment is acquired and services begin, a notification will be sent to the email you used to create your profile.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON'T REACH YOUR FUNDING GOAL?

If we fail to acquire the necessary funding or equipment to carry out services by the expiration, a notification will be sent to the email you used to create your profile. This email will provide you with an option to receive a refund of the amount paid or to rollover your contribution to a second fundraising attempt.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY IS THERE A 14-DAY WAITING PERIOD?

Membership plans are designed to serve as a preventative plan. Nonmembers who need urgent support must choose the Immediate Search & Recovery service for $249. A 14-day waiting period prevents nonmembers from circumventing this process for the purpose of receiving immediate coverage for $15.

DOES THE SERVICE ONLY COVER MY HOME AREA?

No. Pets may become lost while at the dog park, out on a walk, or even out camping away from home. As long as the location is within the boundaries of our serviceable area, we will come to your location. Use the Coverage Map to see serviceable areas.

CAN I USE MY SERVICE CALL FOR SOMEONE ELSE'S LOST PET?

Yes. Similar to AAA services, you may use your service call for another person. The members must be present upon arrival or place the request from their online account.

WHAT ROLE DOES THE PET OWNER PLAY IN THE OPERATION?

Pet owners play a significant role in the operation. Once the drone operator arrives, you will work with them develop a strategy for the search. This includes sharing photos or images of the pet, identifying pet behaviors, common walking paths in the area and other factors. If a pet is located, the owner must retrieve, secure, and handle the pet. This may involve moving through difficult terrain in unsuitable climates.

WILL THE DRONE OPERATOR BE AVAILABLE RIGHT AWAY?

In most cases, a time will be scheduled to meet at the service location, likely during the evening or early morning hours when thermal imagery performs best. It is possible that your pet will travel a greater distance during this time. However, the pet owner and drone operator will need to work strategically to cover the most likely travel paths.

WHAT IF MY PET TRAVELS INTO A RESTRICTED AREA?

If a pet travels into a restricted airspace, the drone operator will not be able to search in that area. The search mission may still continue, but the search will only be conducted in permitted airspace. If the pet travel onto private property, the search may be conducted, but retrieval of the pet will be at the owner's own risk.

WILL YOU HELP RETRIEVE MY PET IF IT'S FOUND?

The drone operator must remain in control of the aircraft at all times. This limits our ability to retrieve a pet. If conditions allow and the pet is not located on restricted or private property, the drone operator may help with retrieval when safe to do so.

Animals Covered
Skyline Pet Recovery services are available for the following types of animals: dogs, cats, equine, cows or calves, goats, and sheep. Other animals, such as rabbits, may also be eligible for recovery services, subject to the drone operator’s discretion and the animal’s detectability using thermal drone technology. Services are not intended for use with wildlife commonly associated with hunting (e.g., doe, buck, elk), as outlined in the Washington State Restrictions section.

Unforeseen Inaccessible Locations
If a pet is located in an area that is inaccessible due to physical, legal, or safety barriers—such as private property, hazardous terrain, restricted zones, or other unforeseen obstacles—Skyline Pet Recovery will provide the pet owner with the pet’s identified location to the best of our ability using thermal drone technology. However, Skyline Pet Recovery and its drone operators are not responsible for gaining access to such locations or retrieving the pet. It is the pet owner’s responsibility to coordinate access (e.g., obtaining permission from property owners) or to arrange alternative means of retrieval.

WA State Restrictions

WA State restricts drone-based services for use in locating wildlife for purposes of hunting. Therefore, pet recovery searches are not intended for use with Doe, Buck, Elk, or other commonly hunted animals. If the drone operator determines that services are being used for this purpose, the search mission and your membership may be cancelled without refund.

Liability Waiver and Limitation of Liability
Pet owners participate in Skyline Pet Recovery services at their own risk. Skyline Pet Recovery, its drone operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to property damage, personal injury, or emotional distress. This includes damages resulting from drone malfunctions, failure to locate a pet, or actions taken by pet owners during a search. By using our services, pet owners agree to waive any claims against Skyline Pet Recovery for such damages. In no event shall Skyline Pet Recovery’s total liability exceed the amount paid by the member for the service in question.

Liability Waiver Requirement

Before any pet recovery services are provided, the person who makes the Service Call or who is present to meet the drone operator must sign a Waiver of Liability, either electronically through our website or in person at the time of the Service Call. This waiver releases Skyline Pet Recovery from liability for risks associated with the service, as outlined in the Liability Waiver and Limitation of Liability section. Failure to sign the waiver will result in the cancellation of the Service Call, with no refund provided.
